Bernadette Wagner began studying the science of healthy aging in her mid-50’s. The scientific research confirmed what she had long suspected: when women get together, they are healthier, happier and better positioned to contribute to their communities. In 2018, Bernadette founded Prime Time for Women to celebrate, connect and empower women from diverse backgrounds and to foster healthy aging through research-based programs that emphasize positive social connections, lifelong learning and healthy lifestyles. Bernadette served two terms as an elected official, was Creator and Host of Prime Time for Women TV (three seasons on Antietam Broadband); and host, presenter and speaker at numerous community events across Washington County. She is also a regular radio guest on Friday Potpourri with Lou Scally on WJEJ and Public Health Now with Joelle Butler. Bernadette has always been and always will be committed to making a difference in her community and for her efforts she was recognized as “Woman of the Year” in 2012 by the Hagerstown Chapter of Business and Professional Women of Maryland and received the “Life of Leadership Award” in 2018 from Women At The Table.

The theme of TEDx Hagerstown Women draws from an early TEDWomen theme, Ideas Big Enough to Change the World. Women have advanced globally as world leaders of commerce, government, health, arts, education and in the home, and still, our vision of power, peace and excellence has capacity to unfold in greater measure. We are excited to present courageous speakers, outside-the-box thinkers and performers presenting new and inspiring ideas: Ideas Big Enough to Change the World
TEDx is an international community that organizes TED-style events anywhere and everywhere, celebrating locally-driven ideas and elevating them to a global stage. TEDx events are produced independently of TED conferences, each event curates speakers on their own, but based on TED's format and rules. Our event is called TEDxHagerstownWomen, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. A TEDxWomen event celebrates different ideas, from a range of disciplines, either given by or relating to women.
Please join us in the lobby following tonight's event for a fun and unique networking opportunity with our partners and speakers. This is an opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and build meaningful connections that can lead to valuable partnerships. We hope our speakers tonight spark deep discussion and connection in our small group.
Don't miss the red carpet photo op, food from Jersey Mike's, the hot chocolate bar or the photo booth staffed by Electrolinear Entertainment. Enjoy (& dance a little as) The Mack Berry Band performs a full set for us tonight!
